Transcending Time
Artemisia Gentileschi, Judith and Maidservant with the head of Holofernes.Oil on canvas; 1599-1600
I love Gentileschi, and i guess that figures, considering she’s a Caravaggista. But like Caravaggio, her use of tenebrism and naturalism is dramatic and incredibly appealing to the eye.
